The Great Exhibition worked closely with Volvo on the launch of the Black Series, expanding on the “Every You” concept. Through a series of still-life inspired scenes, the collaboration highlighted both details and vibe of the Black Series, bringing a new focus to the intricate design of the EX40 and EC40. The aim was to emphasize Volvo’s attention to small and impactful details, creating a refined and cohesive visual experience.
IDEA
The concept behind the Volvo Black Series builds upon the “Every You”.
All the different aspects and personalities of the person behind the wheel. The idea is to showcase a still-life approach where each detail, especially the black elements, becomes the focal point. This design perspective seeks to draw attention to the car’s understated features, emphasizing how smallest details can make big impact.
ATTENTION
In the Volvo EX40 and EC40 Black Series, we set out to maximize the aesthetics of the Onyx Black body and the blacked-out details. This includes the Volvo Iron Mark, the rear badging, and the high-gloss black grille. The large 20-inch wheels with black rims further enhance this unified design approach. Inside, the theme continues with black accents in the interior decor, premium upholstery, and black roof lining, all of which maintain the consistent black theme.
DESIRE
The design caters to those who value individuality and want their vehicle to reflect that. The black detailing across the exterior and interior gives the car a distinct, cohesive look, making it appealing to drivers who prefer a minimalist, bold aesthetic.
MEMORY
By elevating the aesthetics, suggesting a different approach and presenting the car as an design object, we tried to make the cars as memorable as possible. This version stands out as a deliberate expression of Volvo’s ability to combine design and functionality into a unified experience and TGE focused on enhancing this.
