We are happy to announce TGE Gallery. Contemporary art galleries that will take place every three months in our Stockholm and Gothenburg studios. A new initiative and space to offer contemporary art experiences in the two biggest cities in Sweden. TGE Gallery aim to curate what’s next in order to inspire the present. The gallery is made in collaboration with curator William Hall.
FIRST EXHIBTION: МАТРЁШКА
First Exhibition is called Матрёшка (Matryoshka) in which we have invited some of the most interesting Swedish sculptors, painters and photographers. The Матрёшка doll originates from Eastern Europe, and symbolizes the unity between mind body, soul and heart, unified as one. It holds strong connotations to the reinvention of oneself, and has become a symbol for the female side of Russian culture. The exhibition aims to emphasize materiality through the works of Georg Nordmark, Johanna Kindahl. Luna Lopez, Erik Gustafsson, Lina Lundquist, Simon Lezbedi, Anton Josephson, Miriam Johannesson, Andreas R Andersson.
SECOND EXHIBITION: GE & TA
Ge & ta Is a duo exhibition focusing on the conversation between two practices.
Sunniva’s works reflect on creating it rather than the finished product, as Susanna Slöör wrote; Ingvarsson’s paintings become like dances frozen in time. It emphasises the painting as a act which leaves traces from its creation. Zwahlen’s works integrate with the room. The material- based craftsmanship connotes to ready-mades whilst still maintaining the historical heritage of woodworking. Ge & ta Emphasises the difference between the two artists’ practice. In a juxtapositional installation the works highlight each other; In both aggressivity and tenderness their works connect through the observer’s interpretation.
